Alicia Herrero
Rio de La Plata, Argentina


Alicia Herrero graduated from UNA (National University of Art - Buenos Aires) in 1987. Some of her recent projects are “Mundus Financial Corporation Inc. Evidence” (2015), diorama and lesson plans (commissioned art DordtYart program); the collective publication “Informe Capital” (2014) (Grant Fondo Nacional de las Artes 2013);“Museum of the Political Economy of Art”, “Action Instruments-Box”, “Sur-Plus Value” and “Errata” (2011/2013). Other recent works: “Public Considerations, a Symposium in Three Acts” (2010/11) at Congreso  Nacional (Parliament), National Bank of Argentina and Buenos Aires University (English/ Spanish video and publication); “The Paradigm Confines Tour” (2007) boat trip sailing the same route as Darwin did in the Beagle Channel (The End of the World Biennial, Patagonia). These projects and others are part of the “Art & Capital” series.

She created in 2007 the Laboratory of Investigation in Contemporary Artistic Practices at the Buenos Aires University (CCRRojas) and also, she has offered in the last three years, workshops, laboratories and performative lectures at: MACBA, Buenos Aires (2016); DordtYart, Dordrecht (2015), Espacio La Paternal, Buenos Aires (2015); SITAC-Campo de Pruebas, México df (2013); MURA, Guadalajara, México (2013); Eyebeam - Art + Technology Center, New York, USA (2012); Austrian Cultural Forum New YorkUSA (2012); El Ranchito Matadero and Medialab Prado,Madrid Spain (2012);Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy (2010); Spazio Gerra Reggio Emilia, Italy (2009); Postgrado en Artes Visuales Contemporáneas, Scola Guignard – Minas Gerais Universidad Estatal, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2011) between others.

Their projects have been included in recent publications of international books: Art & Politics Now by Anthony Downey published by Thames and Hudson, London (2014); It´s the Political Economy, Stupid: The Global Financial Crisis in Art and Theorypublished by Pluto Press (UK) and Pori Art Museum (2013), writers: Judith Butler, Brian Holmes, Slavoj Žižek (amongst others); Praxistest.Künstlerische Projekte Zur Vermittlung Aktueller Kunst, book series published by Schoeppinger Forum für Kunstvermittlung, Germany (2012), Association for Economic and Social Analysis /Routledge/Taylor & Francis, USA /UK and the book: Pedagogy in the Expanded Field publication of the 8 th Mercosul Biennial, chapter Art as Knowledge of the World, English, Portuguese, Spanish versions by Pablo Helguera, Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2011, between other biennials catalogues and exhibition books.

Amongst others, she has had the Nomination of CIFO (Cisneros Foundation), 2015; First Prix New Media and Installations in the 103 th Salón Nacional de Artes, Buenos Aires, 2014, the National Grant for Group Projects 2013, NationalFound of Arts (Fondo Nacional de las Artes), the Antorchas Fondation Grant and the National Grant to the Creation, National Found of Arts (Fondo Nacional de las Artes), Buenos Aires.
